SSD Prototypes

The Non-volatile Systems Laboratory is working with researchers at MIT and Seoul National University in Korea to provide the tools that researchers need to build prototype solid state disks. At NVSL, we developed the initial hardware platform and flash memory controller for the project. That work, along with components from our collaborators has been integrated into BlueSSD.

BlueSSD leverages low-cost Xilinx FPGA prototyping boards to and BlueSpec, a next-generation hardware description language. Together, these components make it easy to investigate issues from the SSD's hardware organization, through its flash management layer, through the operating system and applications.
